Cricketphobia, Anti Team India, Why? Why?

So every time when India wins a high voltage thriller and fans go insane posting statuses and forwarding messages everywhere... You don't have to scream out time and again about how you hate cricket and the fact that most of us go crazy for it. It of course doesn't lesson the joy but brings a whiny tone into celebration mood. It's okay, some don't like cricket, we get it. No need to repeat and vent out your cricketphobia every time.

And yes, if you think cricket is made out to be bigger deal (religion or whatever) than it is then it so should be. Because it is undeniably the most loved and widely followed game in India and it had to be so. Name a sport (a team one) that we have been dominating for as long as this one, on international circuit...Name a sport that has given India as many legends and icons as cricket... And most importantly, name a sport which is as easy to play as a bat and ball, anywhere from playground to streets and balcony to classrooms. There we know, why cricket!

Yes, we do have more serious issues to discuss in the world but so are in our own lives. Don't we? But then such exciting matches is what gives us that much needed break from the tiring routine.

Also supporting the opposite team because you like that team makes sense out of nowhere. I mean bitch please, you don't even like the game. Then how can you flaunt 'game is bigger than teams' gyaan. That's a failed logic in your case. Just accept that you do it to tease and piss off those who happen to give a shiz about it. Not all do though.

Oh My Sachin!

So after convincing myself all this tme to catch him play in his 200th test on the television due to all the hullabaloo over the tickets, this golden opportunity suddenly strikes to me just right before he comes to crease. I leave home with the speed of lightening, run a half-marathon from Churchgate to Gate 4 of Wankhede, almost collapse in the seat, in the stand named after his own. Couldn't believe for a moment the sight I was seeing, can't explain the experience of being with hundreds like me. Mad mad fans! Clapping, screaming, dancing and Mexican weaving... cheering him in every possible way, every ball he struck or even left behind the wicket, every time he came to strike. The time that's history in itself. Don't know if it was a game of destiny or a response to its strong desire of a fan but it sure gave me a day to remember, forever!

When Betty Wears Prada....

After dedicating an entire page as an introduction (Tiring indeed!) now I’m dying to share two of my greatest interests… films and TV. (Seriously! That’s why it took me almost a year to write down another page!!)
Ever since films became a serious business for me there was always so much selection about which one to watch and which one not! Which one to repeat and which one to be done with one watch! One such film I would never ever get tired of watching time and again is The Devil Wears Prada.

Yes! It’s a film I was dangerously obsessed with ever since I watched it, I still am. And the obsession just got stronger and stronger when I started reading the same book written by Lauren Weisberger. Though the book dint get another reading, the film has been watched number of times till now and is yet to be watched tons of times more.

While love for films was in born, for TV shows especially American Television is something I have to thank my friend/s for. About TV shows, sitcoms it was always a recommendation by a friend that came handy in developing a taste for it. I haven’t watched more than a handful of them but whichever I did, I just fell in love with and the one that tops the list is Ugly Betty.

I had hardly followed American TV before this one. (Friends fans, excuse me!) But this one just opened a whole new world for me. I was just wowed by everything in the show… Its colourful & witty characters, the magazine world, high fashion drama, its flamboyance, its queerness and on the top of it, dripping sarcasm and hauteur wickedness. The show was so me in so many ways. I dint just loved the show, I lived it. I was living in Queens, working at Mode, eating Betty’s stolen bagel and strolling on the high fashion streets of Manhattan. Yes, this much was the obsession with the show.

Ugly Betty is strikingly similar to earlier released The Devil Wears Prada, not just in terms of story but characters, locations etc. Both have been made from different sources though. I always tried  to relate, compare these two but found it hard to decide which one is better. I couldn't decide whether I love Betty more than Andy or if I hate Miranda more than Wilhelmina. It was always a tough call.

I wished they made another couple of seasons of Ugly Betty, it was really hard to say goodbye to my most loved show ever. I couldn't hold back my tears in the climax scene of the season 4 finale. Also I hope they make The Devil Wears Prada sequel. This one is quite realistic. With the recent launch of the sequel to the book, that hope is riding high. Excited like anything just with the thought of meeting the trio of Miranda, Andrea and Emily once again but in entirely new segment.

La Introduccion

Hola!

So finally a blogger, Yay! First of all I shall congratulate myself for finding a Muhurat to hit the ground with the prolonged resolution that I made freaking five years back on my birthday. Anyway so far it’s been witnessed that the resolutions are meant to be arrows tossed in the air. So I don’t regret not bothering to make an effort until I felt charged up enough. Or was I just too lazy to put it together? :P

There are things which you love and things which you hate, things you like and things you don’t. But rare are the things towards which you have both sorts of inclinations at varying times. Writing is one of such stuff for me.

Well little interruption here while writing this bloggy thing I am getting barged in by my mom asking what language I’m writing in. And on hearing that it’s the language she doesn’t really appreciate much her interest has got lessen even before this piece is completed. She turns back to heading into her magazine not before giving me her typical mommy-ish look surely not encouraging me. But okay, that is somehow better than not-so-bearable monologue. Moreover I don’t know however waste these people think it would be. I can’t judge myself and I’m not supposed to. I do love my mother tongue, (though not mothers’ tongue :P ) but it’s no way going to impede me from writing what I want to.

What I’m going to heave on this wall is everything am fascinated about (or not.) and everything I want to cheer, share, whine and bitch about. It will be all about Sports, Music, Fashion, Movies and Sitcoms, Politics (!) and yes, Grapevine! The very Oxygen!

So folks, here I kick-off…. wish me luck! ;)
